from rediscovering Azealia Banks’ razor-sharp energy to getting lost in Kelela’s dreamy soundscapes, this month’s soundtrack had a little bit of everything. here is my Top 3.
#energiser
“Count Contessa” – Azealia Banks
This one slipped past me when it first dropped, but I rediscovered it this month—and now it’s on heavy rotation. After years of Azealia’s silence, this track became my go-to workout anthem. While diving back into her catalog, I also caught up on some overlooked singles from 2021 and 2023. Turns out, she has been releasing music, and I just completely missed it. A nice surprise and a solid addition to my gym playlist.

In The Blue Light (Album) – Kelela
This album is perfect for a quiet bath—or, in my case, reminiscing about my Berlin era. It takes me back to that feeling of chasing dreams, being young, and nursing a broken heart. It also made me revisit Cut 4 Me, Hallucinogen, and Take Me Apart. Kelela always delivers, and this one is best experienced in full. Light a candle, find it on your streaming platform, and let it play through a slow, peaceful evening. Also, the DOCUMENTARY is amazing.
#special
“Lockdown” – Priya Ragu
Out of nowhere, this song popped into my head and wouldn’t leave. Priya Ragu, a Swiss singer-songwriter with Sri Lankan-Tamil roots, released her album back in 2021, and it stuck with me after the pandemic. Listening to it again felt like opening a time capsule. Definitely a great pick for a long car ride—or for getting lost in thought.
